Our Story

Why the Forum was set up

The Forum for Breast Cancer Protection was set up in 2001 by a group of doctors who were growing increasingly concerned at the rising incidence of breast cancer in India. An even greater cause of concern was that a very large proportion of Indian women only sought medical advice when their cancer had reached the later stages, leading to breast removal, the spread of cancer to other parts of the body and the loss of life.

The Forum was thus set up to raise awareness among Indian women about the critical need for early detection. The Forum also spreads awareness about the treatment for breast cancer in case it is detected and the fact that the earlier the disease is caught, the higher are the chances of cure.

The Forum initiates and organises an entire gamut of activities to keep the issue of early detection alive. One such activity is the screening of an educational film to groups of women, for instance, women’s clubs, college faculty, teachers in schools etc. The film is followed up by a Q&A session, where the doctors present answer questions from the audience. The Forum is committed to extend its coverage to more and more women through such meets.

Other activities include screening camps, car rallies and others. To see a glimpse of our activities, click here

The Forum for Breast Cancer Protection has been registered as an NGO in 2001 (Registration No. F-200/01/801). All donations are exempt under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act. To donate for a cause, click here
